Folic acid is a member of the vitamin B family. It is known as vitamin B9. Chances are, you have heard of folic acid, unlike some of the other more exterior nutrients that your body needs.

Neural tube defects include problems such as spina bifida and anencephaly.

Homocysteine is a hormone that circulates in the blood. It has been found that high levels of homocysteine are indicative of heart problems. Folic acid decreases the amount of this problematic hormone in the blood.

It is possible that folic acid may also have a role in preventing strokes. Scientists caution that more research is needed to say definitively whether or not folic acid is beneficial for these conditions.

Folic acid is necessary for a lot of biological functions. Recent research has hinted at a role for folic acid in the improvement of memory. Just as this B. vitamin is necessary for the proper development of cells and reproduction, it is also necessary for fertility. I recommend supplementing with B complex vitamins, along with your regular supplement regimen. Since the B vitamins are water soluble, there is little risk of overdosing

Does it help with hair loss? To be honest I really don’t know. If that is the only reason you want to take this supplement then I would recommend against it. If you want to improve your overall health, go ahead.
